Vicki Branchini, 1st Grade Teacher

Hello! My name is Vicki Branchini. I will be part of the first grade team at Saint Susanna School. I am excited to begin another school year! This is my 33rd year of teaching, 21 of those years have been at Saint Susanna. I am originally from Danville, Iowa. It a small farming community in southeast Iowa, 10 miles from the Mississippi River. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Northern Iowa, earning a degree in Elementary Education. Later I went back to school at Indiana University. I earned a Master’s in Counseling/Counselor Education. I have taught grades Kindergarten through Eighth grade. While in Iowa I worked for the Des Moines Public Schools. During my tenure there, I taught 6-8 grade math, Title 1 Math, and Kindergarten. After six years in Des Moines, my husband Bob and I moved to Indiana. I was employed by Indianapolis Public Schools. At IPS I taught Kindergarten and First grade. I then stayed home with my son Patrick for seven years. When he went to school, I then began teaching at Saint Susanna. During my 21 years here, I have taught Fourth, Fifth, Fifth/Sixth split, and First grade. I have had many opportunities to be involved in several professional organizations. I was a member of the Math Cadre for Des Moines School, SPARCS for Learning workshop training team for IPS, and School Improvement Team Co-Chairperson for Saint Susanna. In my spare time, I like to visit family and friends, spend time with my granddaughter Korah, walk, read books and magazines, and watch movies. Something you may not know about me is that I have been to 10 Major League baseball parks!
