My name is Joel Vachon and it is my pleasure to be the new Middle School Science and Math teacher! I have substituted at St. Susanna and some of the students know me already. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Purdue University. After working several years in research as a Biochemist for pharmaceutical companies, and obtaining licensing in the transition-to-teaching M.Ed. program at IUPUI, I am so excited to pursue my dream of teaching at St. Susanna School!
I appreciate Catholic education and attended Catholic Schools from K-12. Currently my family and I are parishioners at St. Christopher Church and our son is a student at Cardinal Ritter. I enjoy many hobbies and activities such as advanced studies and research, camping, cycling and golf. I am a Boy Scout leader in Troop 307, a member of the American Chemical Society, and the National Science Teacher’s Association.
My expertise in advanced sciences and math will be conveyed to your student in a very dynamic and productive way. It is my goal to provide engaging instruction and guidance that challenges critical thinking skills, fosters intelligent discussion, and develops and prepares every student for high school. We will do interesting experiments that reinforce class content and advanced concepts, as well as challenging project presentations that will inspire students to love science, engineering, and math. I am committed to providing my students with the best education possible to help them achieve their academic potential. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!
