Current Family Re-enrollment

Dear Parents,

It’s that time of year!  Registration for the 2018-19 school year for our current families is now openCURRENT FAMILY RE-ENROLLMENT. 

If you are enrolling a sibling which will be a new student at St. Susanna next year, please ALSO complete a NEW STUDENT APPLICATION.

While I do not have exact numbers yet, tuition will increase no more than 4% over this year’s amount for the 2018-19 school year.  The final tuition amount is based on projected enrollment, so registering early will help keep tuition low.  The registration fee per student will remain $100, and the book/technology/activity fees will remain at the 2017-18 rate.  Registration fees must be paid in order for your registration to be complete.

Please note that staff and class decisions are made based on numbers of both returning and non-returning students gathered from submitted registration forms, so it is VERY important that you complete your registration form as soon as possible, even if your child will not be returning.

In addition to continuing to train students in “The Leader in Me”, the following are brief highlights of each grade level:


Faith: Prayers, Jesus loves me!

Academics: 3 half-day, 3 full-day, 5 full-day.

Learning centers, writing name, letter recognition/sound, pre-math, sensory table, cutting, puzzles

Enrichment: art projects, exploring science (magnets, weather, animals, etc.), iPads, book buddies, Christmas program, guest speakers


Faith: Prayers, Bible stories and Saint days

Academics: 5 half-day or 5 full-day.

Learning centers, exploring science (worm bin, owl pellets, hatching eggs, etc.), journal writing

Enrichment: special classes (PE, music, library, computers, Spanish), iPads, Polar Express Day, study trips and guest speakers, Christmas program and caroling at senior center, reading buddies


Faith: Begin specific religious instruction and integrated throughout curriculum; attend mass beginning 2nd quarter

Academics: learning centers, STEM Science activities, sentence and paragraph writing, independent reading, spelling, introduction to addition

Enrichment: Thanksgiving Feast (make butter and bread and reenact 1st Thanksgiving), Gingerbread unit (cookie decorating, eating, books), 100 day celebration, “Kindy 500” racing unit (build and race your own “car”), Reading buddies, iPads, Kinderbear/Kinderfish mascot, field trips to fire station, park, and Clowes Hall

First Grade:

Faith:  Weekly mass; lead masses

Academics: Accelerated Reader; Bird report and build bird feeders; owl report; STEM Science activities

Enrichment: Butterfly/Caterpillars; study trip to farm/orchard, Nutcracker ballet, Hendricks Regional Hospital, and Indianapolis Zoo; iPads; 100 day celebration; Mothers’ Day Poetry Tea

Second Grade:

Faith: First Reconciliation, First Communion preparation and ceremony as a class; weekly mass

Academics: Book reports/book fair display, Animal reports and presentations, Cursive handwriting, STEM Science activities

Enrichment: iPads, Field trips to Eagle Creek and National Institute of Fitness and Sports

Third Grade:

Faith: Weekly mass; Advent and Lenten penance services

Academics: President report and presentation, cereal box book report, read Novels, STEM science activities, laptop computers

Enrichment: Multi-grade Service groups, Book buddies, incentive parties, Wonderlab Field Trip, visit the One-room Schoolhouse

Fourth Grade:

Faith: Saints project; weekly mass; train as servers

Academics: STEM science activities (i.e. – design, build, and race a sail car), Indiana Studies Weekly publication, Famous Hoosier project, poem memory book, Reflex Math, laptop computers

Enrichment: STEM Connection field trip, Ag Day @ Hendricks County Fairgrounds, trips to Indiana State Museum and Conner Prairie, multi-grade service groups, CYO sports

Fifth Grade:

Faith: Lead Last Supper (Holy Thursday); weekly mass

Academics: Daily 5 Language Arts, hands-on projects, Advanced math (5/6 standards covered), 1:1 laptop computers (as needed), research projects, IXL math, STEM science activities,

Enrichment: multi-grade service groups,  trips to enhance curriculum, Bradford Woods environmental education day-trip, CYO sports

Middle School:

Faith: Perform Living Stations and living rosary, weekly Adoration

Academics: Complete Spanish I curriculum,1:1 laptop computers (as needed), Greek/Latin word roots, advanced math (8th grade – Algebra I), project-based learning,

Enrichment: Mentor younger children, Bradford Woods Environmental Education trip, multi-grade service groups, CYO Sports, daily fitness/recess time, NJHS, study trips to fit curriculum, Science Fair, Day of Service, ASAP after school tutoring, 8th grade regional trip

We are hosting a “Parent Visitation Day” on Thursday, February 1.  This is an opportunity for parents to sit in on a class and observe the teachers and students.  Please join us for mass at 8:45 am. We then invite you to join us using the following guidelines:

  • You may visit as many classes as you would like during the designated drop-in times (9:30  – 11:00 am or 12:30 – 2:30 pm).  If you plan to visit a preschool or prekindergarten class, you may do so beginning at 8:30am.
  • The observations should be “fly on the wall” style.  Do not plan to conference with teachers at this time.
  • This event is for adult visitors only; please do not bring younger children.
  • Chairs will be set up just inside the door of each classroom for your convenience.
