Hot Lunch Program Questions & Answers:

Hot Lunch is served Monday through Friday between 11:00AM-12:30PM. Lunch aides are on duty during each lunch period to assist students as needed (provide direction, open containers, answer questions, etc.)

What is on the Menu?

Monthly menus are planned by the Cafeteria Manager and meet the nutritional guidelines for calories, saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium set forth by the US Government as part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Each hot lunch consists of five components: meat/meat alternative, grain, vegetable, fruit, and milk. Monthly menus will be available on this page and can be quickly accessed by clicking LUNCH at the top right corner of the homepage.

How are portion sizes determined?

The National School Lunch Program regulates portion sizes for each component of the lunch. Serving sizes are adjusted to meet the nutritional needs of students according to age.

How much is hot lunch and can my child get an extra servings?

The price for a student hot lunch with milk is $2.90. Extra entree servings are $1.50. Milk only (or extra milk) is $.50.  Al a carte items are $.75 and water bottles are $.75.  Adult visitors may purchase a hot lunch for $3.50; however, visitors should notify the Cafeteria Manager in advance to order a lunch.

What if my child forgets their cold lunch?

If your child does not have a lunch, the kitchen staff will provide one and your student’s lunch account will be charged accordingly.

Can students use the microwave, ice machine, kitchen refrigerators?

Due to limited staff and health and safety regulations, we are unable to warm up food or allow students access to the kitchen to get ice or use the refrigerators.

Payment/How do I pay for meals?

We can not accept payments during lunch–all payments must be pre-paid into the student’s account via cash, check, or their online account through To set up an account for your student through mySchoolBucks, contact the Cafeteria Manager to receive the individual school student ID needed when you register online.

Is there a Charging Policy?

Students will be notified of low balances at the point of sale and letters will be sent home via email and backpack mail.   Saint Susanna has a limited charging policy in the event that students have an overdraft on their account. After two lunch charges on a negative account, students will  continue to receive a hot lunch and milk, however they will not be eligible for extra servings and a la carte items.

What if my child has money left in their account at the end of the school year?

Excess funds in lunch accounts at the conclusion of the school year will remain in individual accounts for the following school year.
