Dear Parents,

I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL summer so far!  Whether you have taken a vacation, gone to camp, or spent some time at the pool, I hope you’ve enjoyed some family fun.  After spending a week-long family vacation in Michigan, I’m getting excited about the coming school year! There is a lot of information to pass on to you, so please read on.

First, welcome to all our new families who will be joining us for the first time!  We hope to provide opportunities to make connections with other families in our school community and make you feel at home.  Once thing that will help everyone feel more connected is to join the St. Susanna Parent Facebook Page.  Search for “Saint Susanna School Parents” on Facebook and ask to join.  This is open to St. Susanna School parents ONLY, to be used to get the most updated information quickly or ask questions that other seasoned veteran parents may be able to answer for you.

The school will look much different when you all come back in August!  All homeroom locations have changed.  Preschool, PreK, and Kindergarten are now at the North end of the building in the “old middle school” area.  Our littlest kiddos don’t have to go up and down stairs to use the restroom or go to lunch!  The downstairs area is now the Middle School Kingdom for 5th – 8th graders.  While still undergoing renovations, we will have a new science lab area when it’s all complete!  A HUGE “Thank you!” to Tracy Taylor and his family for all of their hard work organizing and executing the move.  Thanks also to the teachers and volunteers who gave us the muscle we needed.  We couldn’t have done it without them!

Mr. Wally and his Tuesday Night Guys have been hard at work getting things ready for August 10, including taking down a wall, moving sinks, painting, and relocating cabinets.  We are so blessed to have such dedicated people willing to share their gifts and talents to improve our school! Playground is getting mulched this week, thanks to volunteers from Bath Fitter!  Wait until you see the new science lab when it’s finished!  And the amazing new decorations in the main hallway!

Summer Skills Packets:  Each grade level has activities for students to complete and turn in to teachers on the first day of school. There are even preschool activities! They are posted on our school website under the “downloads” tab at the top right or HERE.

School Supply Lists: Are also located on the school website under “downloads”.  These are the items your child should have on the first day of school. Just scroll down to 2017-18 School Supply Lists or click HERE.

Uniform and Spirit Wear Sale: Saturday, July 29 from 12:00 noon – 4:00pm in Zore Hall (gym).  Come try on uniform items, order school logo polo shirts and plaid jumpers, find gently used uniform items!  Avon Sports Apparel will also be present with the new Spirit Wear items, along with some student favorites.  Uniform is expected for grades K-8th; all grades including preschool may wear Spirit Wear items on Fridays.  Uniform policy is found on the Saint Susanna School website under the “Admissions”.

Join us for our first annual “Eat ‘N Greet” on Saturday, August 5, (this is the “Meet the Teacher” event for 2017). Kick off the school year by welcoming our new families and reconnecting with old friends!  Begin with mass at 5:30pm, hosted by students.  After mass, find your new homeroom and check out the new school arrangement!  Bring a side dish or dessert to share and join us as Mr. McPeak and Mr. Dutcher grill hot dogs for everyone!  It’s a wonderful way to welcome everyone back to an exciting school year! More information HERE.

Did you know that Eli Lilly offers matching funds for donations to St. Susanna School?  If you or someone you know is an employee of Eli Lilly, any donation they make to our school will be DOUBLED if they notify their company in advance of the donation.  Does your company offer matching donations?  Check with your human resources department to get St. Susanna School on their approved list for matching donations!  This is an excellent way to maximize financial gifts for your school!
