The month of December is a time of great anticipation as we await the birth of Christ. It also marks a whirlwind of concerts, meetings, and wrapping up the second quarter. Please be sure to check Power School and continue working with your child at home. Contact your child’s teacher soon if you have any questions or concerns. Please don’t allow small issues to grow into major problems. If we don’t know there is a concern, we cannot help! The teachers and I want to work with you and your child to make sure everyone is successful!
Congratulations to our Children’s Choir, who performed at Sullivan’s Hardware annual Christmas Program on December 2. I get goosebumps when they sing; they are definitely the voices of angels! We’re so proud of our choir for sharing their talents with the Indianapolis area! The next opportunity to hear our choir perform for Christmas will be at the “Christmas in Plainfield” event on Friday, December 8 at 7:00 pm at Plainfield High School.
Teachers and I use the time on early dismissal days to go over testing data, align curriculum, make plans for student success, and work together to meet professional development goals. Teachers can then use this information in their classrooms to address each individual student’s progress and make sure everyone is adequately challenged. For your planning purposes, the following dates in second semester will be 1:00 pm dismissal times: January 24, February 15, April 24, and May 15. Extended Daycare Ministry (EDM) will be available immediately following dismissal on those dates until 6:00 pm. We also have a 1:00 pm dismissal on March 30 for Good Friday.
Santa Shop will be held in the Parish Center on December 11 and 12 (set up is December 10). This is for students to purchase items for parents, grandparents, siblings, pets, etc.More information is found HERE.
Mrs. Authenrieth will also have a “books only” book fair set up at the same, also in the Parish Center. This is primarily targeted to PARENTS. It would be great for our kids to havebooks under the tree!! This is also a great opportunity to make purchases for the Angel Tree and Kelley’s Angels Toy Drive. It will be open from 7:30 AM until 6:30 PM both Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12, for the convenience of parents to shop before and after school. Book fair flyers and a wish list will be coming home this week. Any money collected for “All for Books” will be used to purchase books for the Angel Tree/Kelley’s Angels Toy Drive. St. Susanna Holiday Basketball Camp will be held on Friday, December 22. It runs 9:00am – 3:00pm and is open to boys and girls in first through seventh grades. Click here for more information.

Student News: Do you have any good news to share? Anything our students or graduates have accomplished? I would love to report on what our students do outside of school and how they are developing the talents God gave them. I plan to include a St. Susanna alumni section in some issues of Principal Notes… sort of a “where are they now?” to let our families know what our young people do once they leave St. Susanna. Please let me know how students and graduates are letting their lights shine!
