Indiana Learning Evaluation Assessment Readiness Network (ILEARN) is the summative accountability assessment for Indiana students in grades 3 through 8 and high school biology. ILEARN measures student achievement and growth according to Indiana Academic Standards for English/Language Arts (grades 3 through 8), Mathematics (grades 3 through 8), Science (grades 4 and 6), and Social Studies (grade 5).
A student may only have one test attempt for any given ILEARN assessment. There are no retest opportunities available for ILEARN assessments. ILEARN is an untimed assessment.
ILEARN measures the breadth of Indiana Academic Standards. This means that all standards are represented in the test blueprints, including content area literacy, media literacy, listening, and computer science standards and the item specifications. Indiana educator committees collaborated with content experts to create the ILEARN test blueprints and item specifications.
Schools are responsible for communicating student test results to parents in a timely manner. Parents seeking student scores should contact their child’s school for assistance.
ILEARN Individual Student Reports (ISRs) reflect content-specific measures for English/Language Arts and Mathematics for each student in grades 3-8. Lexile® Measures provide insight into students’ ability to read and comprehend text and serve as indicators to help select appropriate texts for their reading levels. Quantile® Measures indicate students' mathematical skills and help identify appropriate activities to support the development of mathematical skills and understanding
Pursuant to Indiana Code, IDOE defined a rescore request process for open-ended items appearing on ILEARN 3-8 and biology assessments. Corporations and schools must follow established guidelines when facilitating the rescores of student responses following each ILEARN test administration.

As a school accredited by the State of Indiana, St. Susanna 3rd Grade students participate in the Indiana Reading Evaluation And Determination (IREAD) assessment to measure foundational reading standards through Grade 3. This is a summative assessment which requires the evaluation of reading skills of students in Grade 3 to ensure that all students can read proficiently before moving to Grade 4.
Renaissance Learning offers teachers and administrators tools for assessing students in reading (STAR Reading), emergent reading (STAR Early Literacy), and math (STAR Math). The STAR assessments allow teachers to accurately evaluate students’ abilities in these subject areas. Teachers then use information provided by the assessments to target instruction, provide students with the most appropriate instructional materials, and intervene with struggling students. Students use computers to take the STAR tests. The computer selects the first test question based on a student’s age, grade placement, or previous performance on the STAR test. Using the student’s correct or incorrect answer, the computer selects the next test question. If the student answers correctly, the next question will be more difficult; if the student’s answer is incorrect, the next question will be easier. With each answer, the computer adapts to the student’s ability. Selecting questions that are tailored to each student’s ability allows for a test that is efficient, accurate, and motivational.
WIDA testing is given to those students whom a language other than English is identified during the Home Language Survey Process. WIDA testing is given to limited English language proficient students and assesses their progress in English language proficiency to then provide eligible children with services that would increase their English proficiency and their academic achievement.
W-APT the WIDA ACCESS Placement Test, is administered to all students for whom a language other than English is identified during the Home Language Survey process. The W-APT functions as a screener that is used for both initial assessment and English Language (EL) program placement of students who are identified as limited English proficient (LEP). Placement tests are scored locally.
